The Klosterwachtstraße in Tegernsee is currently being refurbished under full closure. This is associated with restrictions for residents. For some, the measure goes far too far.

Tegernsee - In a letter to Mayor Johannes Hagn (CSU), the Paskert couple questioned the “proportionality” of the full closure. The residents complain that at times "neither walking or cycling" was possible in the area of the construction site. "Including citizens between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. in fact in their homes without traffic and accessibility of the street cannot be a proportionate decision by the administration," says the letter of complaint.

In a conversation with other residents, this information has also come to the attention of building manager Bettina Koch. "Of course that's not okay," explains Koch. The construction company was expressly advised by the city that the construction site had to be able to be passed on foot by residents.

Overall, the construction manager defends the full closure. Initially, attempts were made to carry out the work only with the road blocked on one side. "However, this has proven to be impractical," explains Koch. The width of the ditch sometimes extends to the middle of the street. In order to maintain traffic safety, the traffic loads in addition to the open trenches and safety distances would also have to be taken into account. The work could therefore only be continued with complete closure.

"We try to coordinate accessibility with the construction company at least at lunchtime, but without delaying the construction time, which would then burden all residents," said Koch. Especially for the residents at the end of Klosterwachtstraße, it would be easy to bypass the construction site on foot via Otkarstraße without major impairments, says the city employee. And she emphasizes: "There are also residents who are happy that the dilapidated street is finally being renovated."
