Even on the long weekend of Pentecost, it is important to comply with the contact restrictions due to Corona. Police and law enforcement agencies have registered tens of thousands of violations since the beginning of the regulations. But the number of violations seems to have changed.

Berlin (dpa) - The number of reported violations of the corona requirements is declining in the first federal states. It is continuously declining, said Baden-Württemberg Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU).

At the same time, in view of the long Pentecost weekend, he appealed to the population to continue to comply with the distance and hygiene rules. The danger from the corona virus was not averted.

The Ministry of the Interior in North Rhine-Westphalia published such reports a good week ago: While in the first weeks of the Corona editions, 2000 to 2500 administrative offenses were registered per week in the most populous federal state, the number dropped to a good 300 recently. A similar picture emerges in Hesse, where around 6,300 administrative offenses for violations have been registered since the Corona catalog of fines entered into force at the beginning of April. Around 5,000 of these were recorded in April alone and 1,200 in May, as the Ministry of the Interior in Wiesbaden announced with reference to the May 27 reporting date.

It remains to be seen whether the declines in the violations are also related to the fact that the police and law enforcement agencies may now have less control. Police reports in recent weeks have repeatedly included examples such as violations during anti-corona demonstrations or illegal "corona parties".

In Baden-Württemberg, police officers checked more than 343,900 people and over 70,300 vehicles between March 19 and May 27. In 27 593 cases there were complaints about administrative offenses or criminal offenses, as the local Ministry of the Interior announced. The majority of violations of the rules in Baden-Württemberg were violations of the exit restriction, including the minimum distance, with more than 21,000 cases. In 452 cases there were violations of the obligation to wear a mask. In 726 cases, facilities were closed and 288 access bans were issued.

In NRW, the police punished around 13,000 violations. Almost 12,400 violations were reported, and in 640 more serious cases criminal complaints were filed, according to the Interior Ministry in Düsseldorf a week ago. In addition, however, there are the numbers of the municipal regulatory offices.

According to the authorities, tens of thousands of people in Bavaria have also violated the corona requirements. Between the start of the exit restriction on March 21 and the May 25 deadline, police officers in the Free State recorded 57 502 cases, the Interior Ministry said. 52,824 people are affected.

There are various catalogs of fines for the violations in the federal states. A spokeswoman for the city of Kaiserslautern in Rhineland-Palatinate therefore pointed out that comparisons of the fines imposed were not permissible from her point of view: "For example, a violation of the obligation to wear a mask costs 10 euros in Rhineland-Palatinate and 150 euros in Bavaria."
