Regensburg is breaking the threshold of a critically assessed number of new infections, almost a quarter of the counties no longer register any new cases. This is what the current numbers look like.
Berlin (dpa) - According to virologist Christian Drosten, the corona virus does not spread uniformly as initially assumed. "We have few people who infect many other people," he said in an interview with "Spiegel": "It is easier to control such an infection."
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has had a decline in new infections for many days. The health authorities in Germany recently reported 560 corona infections within one day. According to the health authorities, the tracing of infections is currently manageable.
The RKI initially reported the number of 741 new infections early on Friday morning, although older cases were also included due to technical problems, as an RKI data expert explained when asked. A total of 180,458 people in Germany have demonstrably contracted Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the Corona crisis, as reported by the RKI (data status 29.05. 0 o'clock). Around 300 to 600 new corona cases were reported daily in the days before.
So far, according to RKI information, 8450 have been proven to have been infected with the virus, increasing the number of reported deaths by 39 within 24 hours. 164,100 people have survived the infection according to RKI estimates, 900 more than a day earlier.
According to the latest information from the Robert Koch Institute on Friday, the number of reproductions, or R-value for short, was 0.85 (data status May 29, 00:00; previous day: 0.61). This means that ten infected people infect more than eight other people on average. The R value shows the infection process approximately one and a half weeks beforehand.
Since mid-May, the RKI has also given a so-called 7-day R. It refers to a longer period and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations. According to RKI estimates, this value (data as of May 29, 00:00) was 0.85 (previous day: 0.78). It shows the infection process 8 to 16 days ago.
In Bremerhaven, dozens of people who are members of a Pentecostal church have contracted the virus. Almost a quarter of the counties had no new cases within the past seven days.
The city of Regensburg again breaks the critical limit for new corona infections. A number of cases had already been found a few days ago in a row investigation in an anchor center for refugees. According to the RKI database, the Bavarian district is currently the only one to exceed the threshold of 50 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days. Due to reporting delays, the actual situation may already be different.
