The Government announced the appointment of He Qiming, a member of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions, as Deputy Secretary of the Labour and Welfare Bureau, and Ye Junlian, a member of the DAB, as Political Assistant to the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury.

This is the first time that the Government has appointed the current Legislative Council member as an accountable official. It is also the first member of the Federation of Trade Unions to be appointed as an accountable official. In response to media enquiries, He Qiming said that he will resign from the Legislative Council as a member of the labour sector today and thank the government for the opportunity.

He Qiming's monthly salary jumped more than double
