2020-05-30T14:12:00.052Z

The weather in Germany continues to determine a high-pressure weather situation. But the prospects for the long Pentecost weekend are unfair.

The weather in Germany continues to determine a high-pressure weather situation. But the prospects for the long Pentecost weekend are unfair.

  • The weather forecasts for a trip on Pentecost weekend are actually splendid, at least for part of Germany.
  • May 2020 says goodbye, but clearly too dry.
  • The weather forecast * for Germany in our news ticker.

Update from May 29th, 9.44 a.m .: Before summer starts next week , the weather is not yet good for everyone  in Germany.

Today at noon and in the afternoon, according to the DWD , it should be partly cloudy in the southeast and occasional rain showers . It gets thunderous locally. Above the mountain country, it remains cheerful to sunny and dry . Maximum values in the eastern half of Germany are between 15 and 21 degrees . In the rest of the country it is 18 to 24 degrees with the highest values in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Individual wind gusts occur in the southwest, and storm gusts even occur in high locations in the Black Forest. On the night of Saturday it is cloudy in the east and southeast. Otherwise it will mostly remain slightly cloudy or clear. At night it cools down to 11 to 2 degrees. Prolonged clearing up in unfavorable locations can result in slight frost near the ground .

Weather in Germany: After Pentecost, the summer turns to - 30 degrees

Update from May 28th, 10.43 am : With the weather in Germany, Hoch "Steffen" has that to say. But it is just moderately warm. "Hui in the north and west, so-so to the southeast," tweets the German Weather Service (DWD). “In the south and southeast, a cold front and a low altitude still cause shower-like precipitation and thicker clouds. Otherwise, the sun can shine from the sky with only a few clouds. ”The weather forecast for Pentecost (see below) is friendly, but locally there can be individual showers and thunderstorms.

Just in time for the beginning of the summer weather on June 1, the weather changed. Next week the summer greets and that directly with partly strong thunderstorms , Dominik Jung from the weather service Q.met told the weather portal wetter.net .

On Monday, according to the German Weather Service (DWD), there are temperature maxima between 18 degrees in the southeast of Bavaria and up to 27 degrees in the Cologne Bay. The 30-degree mark could be cracked on Tuesday.

"The European weather model ECMWF calculates a rich warm air advance next week, here maximum values on Tuesday", twitter the weather portal Kachelmannwetter.com with a model map for Germany. On Thursday, however, a cold front is announced.

The ECMWF is also calculating a full warm air advance next week, here high values on Tuesday. On Thursday, however, a striking cold front would follow with cooling. /FRhttps://t.co/G0OKt1NJDl

Before May ends on Pentecost Sunday, meterologist Jung draws a bitter balance - at least when it comes to the amount of precipitation : when it rains, the area average across Germany has just been met by 50 percent. That means it only fell half of the usual rainfall for May , explains the weather expert. And the drought is likely to continue. Comprehensive country rain is also not in sight in June.

Weather in Germany: Deep from Poland spoiled some of the excursion weather on Pentecost

Update from May 27th, 11:46 am : “Steffen” high over Great Britain currently determines the weather in Germany. However, weak low-lying foothills "minor blemishes" disturb the weather, the German Weather Service (DWD) announced on Wednesday.

Cool air from Scandinavia arrives in Germany on Wednesday and a low sea level creates denser cloud fields in the north and northeast. On the East Frisian Islands, according to the DWD experts, the wind can occasionally freshen up. Apart from individual thunderstorms on the edge of the Alps, the weather remains rather calm until the weekend. "There is usually a cheerful mix of sun and clouds, it is sunnier to the west," writes the DWD.

  • The weather prospects for the long Whitsun weekend are quite different for Germany: In the west and north it remains rather dry and in the east and southeast there are rather dense clouds of rain.

  • Whit Sunday is approaching another low from Poland and spoils the excursion weather in the east and southeast of Germany. It's a little friendlier in the west.

  • Whit Monday , the weather in Germany is still divided into two, according to the DWD weather experts. It rains especially in the southeast with maximum values of 13 to 17 degrees. In the middle it is clear and cloudy. The sun is probably in the north and northwest and there are temperatures up to 26 degrees.

Hoch "Steffen" is responsible for the largely calm weather in Germany. However, the high pressure influence is not completely flawless everywhere. At first weak deep runners are disturbing, from tomorrow deep air pressure from the east.

In many places, the temperatures remain single-digit, in the low mountains there can even be sub-zero temperatures. But during the day, the temperatures climb up again and the sun unfolds its strength. Temperatures of just over 20 degrees are expected in most regions in Germany today. On the Rhine it can even be up to 25 degrees . Only on the North Sea and Baltic coast do the temperatures stay below 20 degrees.

In the afternoon, clouds spread from the northwest over Germany to the south. The probability of rain increases in the evening and overnight .

But what does that mean for Pentecost? The weather experts at wetter.com are still expecting a great drought here . However, on Whit Sunday and Monday there may be some rain in the low mountain ranges and in the south in the Alps. The temperatures remain constant at around 20 degrees.

Weather conditions like "nailed" - expert warns of problems in Germany

Update from May 26, 2020, 11:20 a.m .: The weather conditions are currently "nailed", meteorologist Georg Haag from wetter.com explains in his forecast - and that brings "enormous difficulties " with it. A low hangs over Scandinavia, a high sits over the British Isles. Because of this, there is little movement currently in the weather. The problem: The frozen situation can lead to an  "enormous drought problem" , warns the weather expert. This applies in particular to the west of Germany, but there will also be only “fluffy showers” in the east.

Haag also dares a view until the Pentecost holidays. He sees a split in the weather in Germany. In the Rhine region and in the southwest, it should get warmer in the coming days. Up to 25-26 degrees are possible. It will be fresher in the north and northeast, but it will rain only little. This will cause the "drought problem" to build up before the holidays.

Official weather warning for almost all of Germany - first Pentecost forecast

Update from May 25, 2020, 12.17 p.m .:  For the afternoon, the German Weather Service (DWD) predicts dense clouds and some showers from the Baltic Sea to Bavaria . Even short thunderstorms can play a role from the Bavarian Forest to the Alps.

Gusts of up to 60 km / h are expected especially in the area of the North Sea and the western Baltic Sea . This should decrease as the day progresses. For the Bavarian forest and the Alpine region, the German Meteorological Service also issues an official before gusts of wind at speeds of up to 70 km / h.

On Tuesday it should loosen up a bit. The last rain showers are said to be on the eastern edge of the Alps. The sun should finally come out again. The maximum values are then between 17 and 22 degrees.

Summer temperatures also continue on Wednesday . The maximum values on the coasts are 16 to 20 degrees, from Saarland to the Rhine-Main area to Breisgau even up to 26 degrees.

Weather in Germany: Graduate meteorologist over Pentecost holidays: "Unfortunately ..."

And even the forecasts for Pentecost don't leave much to be desired with a lot of sunshine and summer temperatures of 20 to 25 degrees. "Unfortunately, there will be hardly any rain in the next seven days," as certified meteorologist Dominik Jung told wetter.net. “The drought can also continue. Nationwide rain is still not in sight. "

The meteorologist added a graph to his forecasts on Twitter . “So far, May 2020 brought only half of the normal amount of rain. According to the calculations of the European weather service, June 2020 should also be too dry! ”He writes in his tweet.

In southwestern Germany, the sun-cloud mix remains friendlier , according to the weather portal unwetterzentrale.de . High "Steffen" is slowly but surely asserting itself in the course of the coming week.

Before the heat wave: Low temperatures at night - Is there even a risk of frost at the end of May?

On Monday there will be thicker clouds and some rain from the Baltic Sea to Bavaria, but then the DWD weather experts predict that they will later retreat to the Ore Mountains and the eastern edge of the Alps. Maximum temperatures are then around 14 to 19 degrees. In the west and southwest, 23 degrees can be expected. According to the US weather model, the weather frog Jung says that it sometimes looks significantly cooler.

Weather in Germany: Official warning for today - Munich also affected

Update from May 23, 2020, 1.30 p.m .:  Sunshine or  rain ? This weekend has some surprises in store for the weather . One thing is certain: It will be anything but pleasant in early summer. According to the German Meteorological Service (DWD), rain spreads towards southern Germany, with strong thunderstorms in the southeast - even severe weather is possible. In addition, the DWD published an official warning of storm gusts. This applies from 3 to 6 p.m. in the southern part of Bavaria, and Munich is also included in this warning. In addition, an official warning of strong thunderstorms was also published for southern Bavaria. According to the warnings, gusts of wind at speeds of up to 80 km / h and “heavy rain with rainfall of up to 15 l / m² per hour and small-grain hail” are possible. And: “In the vicinity of the showers and in exposed locations, there must be severe gusts of windup to 90 km / h can be expected ".

The reason for the changeable weather is the cold front of a storm low northwest of Scotland, which according to the DWD has already crossed northern Germany. The cold air is then followed by a surge of heated polar air.
