Weather in Germany: Summer is just around the corner - but before that it gets cold again

The weather in Germany continues to determine a high-pressure weather situation. But the prospects for the long Pentecost weekend are unfair.

Above the mountain country, it remains cheerful to sunny and dry . Maximum values ​​in the eastern half of Germany are between 15 and 21 degrees . In the rest of the country it is 18 to 24 degrees with the highest values ​​in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Individual wind gusts occur in the southwest, and storm gusts even occur in high locations in the Black Forest. On the night of Saturday it is cloudy in the east and southeast. Otherwise it will mostly remain slightly cloudy or clear. At night it cools down to 11 to 2 degrees. Prolonged clearing up in unfavorable locations can result in slight frost near the ground .

Before May ends on Pentecost Sunday, meterologist Jung draws a bitter balance - at least when it comes to the amount of precipitation : when it rains, the area average across Germany has just been met by 50 percent. That means it only fell half of the usual rainfall for May , explains the weather expert. And the drought is likely to continue. Comprehensive country rain is also not in sight in June.

Up to 25-26 degrees are possible. It will be fresher in the north and northeast, but it will rain only little. This will cause the "drought problem" to build up before the holidays. 

Official weather warning for almost all of Germany - first Pentecost forecast

Update from May 25, 2020, 12.17 p.m .:  For the afternoon, the German Weather Service (DWD) predicts dense clouds and some showers from the Baltic Sea to Bavaria . Even short thunderstorms can play a role from the Bavarian Forest to the Alps. 

Gusts of up to 60 km / h are expected especially in the area of ​​the North Sea and the western Baltic Sea . This should decrease as the day progresses. For the Bavarian forest and the Alpine region, the German Meteorological Service also issues an official before gusts of wind at speeds of up to 70 km / h. 

On Tuesday it should loosen up a bit. The last rain showers are said to be on the eastern edge of the Alps. The sun should finally come out again. The maximum values ​​are then between 17 and 22 degrees.
