Update from May 29, 11:04 a.m .: As was known, the late Munich acting legend Irm Hermann belonged to the closer circle of director Rainer Werner Fassbinder , who died in 1982 at the age of 37 . That is why the broadcaster TELE 5 is dedicating its “D-Movies Special: Rainer Werner Fassbinder” to the actress. On Sunday, May 31st, the film classics "Fear Eat Soul On" will be shown at 8:15 p.m. and then  "Der Katzelmacher" by the director, in which Irm Hermann participated. 

Rainer Werner Fassbinder is one of the most important German filmmakers and shaped the German film scene with his unconventional film adaptations. His work includes 44 films that he made within 16 years of his short life.

Berlin - The award-winning actress Irm Hermann is dead-born. Münchnerin died at the age of only 77 years . This was announced by her agent Antje Schlag on Thursday

Citing the family of Irm Hermann says that the actress already on  had died in Berlin after a short illness on May 26 It is expressly not confirmed whether her death is related to the Coronavirus * pandemic.

Irm Hermann: In the fast lane with Fassbinder

Irmgard Hermann, who was later only called "Irm", was born on October 4, 1942 in Munich *. First she did an apprenticeship as a publishing clerk and then worked as a secretary at ADAC. It wasn't until 1966 that she met Rainer Werner Fassbinder, who was at the beginning of his career, more by chance at a drama competition at the Junge Akademie München. Hermann was cast in Fassbinder's first short film "The City Tramp". 

With Fassbinder and the actress Hanna Schygulla, she founded the "Action Theater". In addition to the roles for Fassbinder, Hermann developed into a close confidante of the director.

Afterwards, Hermann was part of the close circle around the extremely successful director Fassbinder. Until her move to Berlin in 1975, she starred in several of his other films. These included, for example, the “Effi Briest” or “The bitter tears of Petra von Kant”, which have now become classics. The films “Berlin Alexanderplatz” and “Lili Marleen” followed in her time in Berlin.

Hermann played with numerous well-known directors. With Werner Herzog she made "Woyzeck" next to Klaus Kinski, Hans W. Geissendörfer signed her for "Edith's diary", for Ulrike Ottinger she was in front of the camera in "Johanna D'Arc of Mongolia". With Christoph Schlingensief, she shot "The German Chainsaw Massacre" and "The 120 Days of Bottrop".

But Hermann was by no means only playing in serious films. She also shone in humoristic pieces alongside Gerhard Polt, Loriot or Hape Kerkeling.

In addition to several "Tatort *" appearances and other series roles, Hermann was also seen in the hit film "Fack ju Göthe 3" from 2017. Hermann received the German Film Award for the role of Sophie Scholl's fellow prisoners in Percy Adlon's “Last Five Days”.

Another former "crime scene" actor recently died. His death caused great sadness among fans and colleagues. In the US, meanwhile, one mourns the loss of an actor who appeared in two Oscar films.

A great musician, producer and US guitarist died. He worked with the very big ones and even helped a band to get the Grammy.
