The background is that "massive demand in summer" is expected, said Mayor Toni Ortlieb in the town council. Already last Wednesday - before the Pentecost vacation - the place was as full as usual on beautiful midsummer days during the holidays. "I'm afraid that tourists will overrun us."
That is why it is important to steer the motorhomes on a regular basis. Ortlieb reported that he had spoken to his counterpart in Krün, where the guests "parked criss-cross". "A meadow has now been cleared for this in Krün."
Community hopes for short-term approval
Benediktbeuern currently has space for 15 to 17 campers. Now a piece is to be expanded on an adjacent area under the pine forest. The idea is not new. The municipality hopes that it will not be a problem for the district office in the short term, because it actually requires a change in the land use plan, but it has not yet been completed.
The supply and disposal of fresh water is not a problem. There are currently two columns, each with eight electrical connections. According to guest information manager Sabine Rauscher, one could put old columns back into operation in order to expand them: "They are not so comfortable, but they work perfectly."
More parking spaces for swimming pool visitors
A half-high fence should enclose the site. In addition, more parking spaces are to be created for swimming pool visitors, namely at the level of the foot space.
