Today, Egypt recorded the highest daily death toll from the emerging coronavirus, 1367 new infections, up from 1289 yesterday and 34 deaths for the second day in a row.
Yesterday, Egypt also recorded 34 deaths, the highest daily death toll in the country to date.
Khaled Mujahid, a spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, said that "1367 new cases that proved positive for laboratory analysis of the virus have been registered as part of the surveillance and investigation procedures that the ministry is conducting according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization," noting also the death of 34 new cases.
Mujahid pointed out that the total number that was registered in Egypt with the virus until today was 23,449 cases, including 5,693 cases that were cured and discharged from isolation and quarantine hospitals and 913 deaths.
