Fifth man in the first round, the mathematician did not find an agreement with the outgoing socialist mayor, Anne Hidalgo.

" Anne Hidalgo wants to form a majority at her hand, " jokes an actor in the discussions. Negotiations for the second round of municipal elections continue throughout the weekend in the capital, before the deadline for tabling lists on Tuesday.

But on Saturday evening, an agreement between the socialist mayor and the mathematician Cédric Villani, fifth man in the first round, seemed excluded. The Town Hall indeed confirms to Le Figaro that the former walker declined a counter-proposal from the outgoing majority which assured him four councilors from Paris, several positions within the executive, and a group at the Council of Paris.

The entourage of the scientist, however, refuses to permanently bury this possible alliance, citing " frozen negotiations ". " The question that is asked to Anne Hidalgo is political: does she want to open and renew her new municipal majority or keep the format of 2014 which we have seen how much it has shrunk or even unbalanced the last six years? Asks Villani's support. Discussions are continuing on the other side with the macronist candidate Agnès Buzyn, but with little chance of success. " It is possible that at the end, Cédric Villani decides to withdraw from the race, " said a protagonist. In this case, the mathematician could be content to maintain his candidacy in the 14th, the only arrondissement where his list obtained more than 10%.
