2020-06-01T06:56:50.533Z

According to the Japanese press, Daisuke Sato, a former Japanese sprinter who has become a speed coach for Japanese teams, could join the Blues' staff for the 2023 World Cup.

In the last World Cup, Japan shone on home soil, rising to the quarterfinals after beating Ireland and Scotland. The "Braves Blossom", which bowed against the Springboks future world champions, stood out thanks to a fast, athletic rugby, played on a high pace. For several seasons, Japanese rugby, in constant progress, has established effective movement rugby. In November 2017, the Japanese had snatched the draw against the Blues (23-23), for the first rugby match played at Paris-La Défense Arena.

The French Federation has developed special relationships with its Japanese counterpart. In early March, before the sports competitions were stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the former Japanese sprinter Daisuke Sato, member of the JRFU (Japan Rugby Football Union), had intervened with the teams of France, especially that of the under-20 double reigning world champion.

Transversality of the fields of action

“During the Sports Management seminar in Japan where we were invited, we had three days of work with the Japanese DTN. It was at this point that we met Daisuke, speed coach of the Japanese teams. This term had challenged us and we had exchanged a lot on the transversality of its fields of action and that is why we found it interesting to be able to bring him to work with us ", had explained on the FFR website Sébastien Piqueronies, the manager of the young France teams.

This collaboration could continue, according to information from Yahoo Japan , since Sato would have received new proposals from the FFR. According to the Japanese press, the latter could even integrate the staff of the XV of France until the next World Cup in France in 2023. For now, the FFR ensures that there is no contract in the pipes . However, Daisuke Sato could regularly intervene among the staff of Fabien Galthié, who has, since taking office, focused on speed, movement and "high intensity rugby".

Former speed coach of Japanese rugby teams, Daisuke Sato will sign a contract with the FFR. The French federation does not have a technician at this level and improving speed is one of the major challenges for 2023. https://t.co/3CTIxuH53opic.twitter.com/Ot3Nurd6Ec
