Municipal in Paris: Hidalgo close to the Greens, his opponents divided

The final deposit of the lists must take place Tuesday evening. But the situation seems to have stabilized in Paris: a Hidalgo-Belliard agreement, p

In a Parisian campaign that has reserved many, there will probably be no drama Tuesday afternoon, when the lists for the second round of municipal elections are tabled. If the expected alliance between the outgoing mayor (PS) Anne Hidalgo and environmentalists was on very good track this Sunday evening, we are heading for the status quo for the lists of Rachida Dati (LR) and Agnes Buzyn (LREM) . And the dissident of En Marche Cédric Villani should leave alone in the XIVth.

Hidalgo on the verge of topping with the Greens

The discussions, tight, were still in progress this Sunday evening between Anne Hidalgo, who came largely in the lead on March 15 with 29.3% of the vote, and the candidate (EELV) David Belliard, who collected 10.8% of the votes. "Environmentalists are very greedy and negotiations are tough as always," reports a former member of the majority. But, this Sunday evening, the first assistant Emmanuel Grégoire wanted to be confident. "I am hopeful that we will top this evening," he said.

The Hidalgo team made concessions on large urban projects, promised a large delegation of deputy to EELV as well as a borough hall which would be reserved for them (environmentalists demanded three). "This is dry discussion but we still stumble on substantive issues", tempered this Sunday evening a close to David Belliard.

No agreement possible between Buzyn and Dati

Pointing in third place with 17.3% of the vote, the LREM candidate Agnès Buzyn was not opposed to agreements on a case-by-case basis with the lists of the contender LR Rachida Dati, who came second at 22.7%. The objective was in particular to keep in its lap the town halls of the 5th and 9th centuries held by mayors (ex-LR) rallied to LREM and who threaten to switch to the left. But this Sunday, in our columns, the boss of En Marche Stanislas Guerini definitively closed the door to any agreement with Rachida Dati who demanded a global agreement. Clearly, the assurance that LREM candidates would withdraw in his favor.

An incomprehensible strategy for Rachida Dati. "We reached out to allow work-study in Paris and the En Marche device made a choice that risks favoring Hidalgo," deplores its campaign director Nelly Garnier. From now on, we are going to address all Parisians who want to turn the page on Hidalgo, including LREM voters who feel cheated. "

But in Camp Buzyn, we still defend a third way. "We must do everything to not allow ourselves to be still locked in this operetta debate, block against block, between plural left and classic right: it's been 40 years that it lasts in Paris", despairs the centrist Eric Azière, head of list in the fourteenth alongside the Secretary of State, Marlène Schiappa.

Villani tried to go it alone

"Villani is selling to the highest bidder but he will have nothing," predicted at the start of the weekend a cadre of the majority. The facts seem to prove him right. After having discussed with Agnès Buzyn and Anne Hidalgo, the dissident candidate of En Marche (who obtained 7.9% in the capital), heads towards a solitary candidacy in the XIVth, the only district where he succeeded (on his name) to stay in the second round.

"The independent option holds the rope," confirms his entourage. On Saturday, the outgoing mayor's teams, who deemed his requests exorbitant in terms of posts on the Paris Council, closed the discussions. Some of its headers by district could nevertheless be tempted to ally with LREM. "We are doing everything to get there, especially in the sixth and twelfth arrondissements," says a close friend of Agnes Buzyn.
