Defense Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Benny Gantz appointed Gen. Yaki Dolph on Sunday as the Secretary of Defense's military secretary in place of Ofer Winter, who will be appointed fire chief. Col. Dolph served as the head of Gantz's office when he was chief of staff.
He later served as the commander of the Northern Brigade in the Gaza Division, and later was appointed commander of the Paratroop Brigade. The event that will be remembered during this period is the tragic death of the late Paratrooper Fighter Eviatar Yosefi during navigation in Snail Creek.
Last year, a leaked colonel was reprimanded by Chief of Staff, Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi, following the incident because of his command responsibility. Other officers were ousted and even convicted in the military court following the case. The investigation stated that the manner of preparation of the Nahal Snail training exceeded the orders of the army, did not match the characteristics of the training series, was accompanied by many faults and was carried out to a low standard, characterized by a lack of detail.
As mentioned, despite the incident, Gantz decided to appoint Dolph as his military secretary, among other things because it was a position of trust. Leak will be promoted to brigadier general, and the date of his exchange with Winter will be announced soon.
