As the initiator, Ric, the director of Anshan Discovery Museum, was waiting for volunteers in Maanshan Village early in the morning, arranging volunteers to set off and clear the mountain trails in different places in Maanshan. Ric led one of the team of volunteers to climb the Jinluao along the Ma'anshan suburban trail, and then to the Ngong Ping Plateau, a hot spot for hiking in the mountains.
Maanshan Countryside has a serious garbage problem
Among the hiking trails around Ma On Shan, Ric pointed out that the garbage problem in Shangangping is the most serious. He explained: "This hiking trail is suitable for different types of people. Novices get it. Friends who like to challenge come up with other routes and have different ways of playing. The crowd is relatively dense, so the garbage problem is more serious."

Before leaving Ma'anshan Village and crossing the road that must pass through the mountain, Ric pointed out a garbage black spot to volunteers and reporters. There are several rural trash cans, and there is a lot of trash in the open space beside the trash cans. Ric said that the amount of trash was already low on the day. He had seen the trash bin full once, and tourists threw the trash at the side of the barrel, making the trash pile up like a mountain.
After the volunteers cleared this position, they continued on the country trail. Although the distance from Maanshan Village to Ngong Ping is less than two kilometers, Ric foretells that there are two more garbage black spots. Cross the mountain stream, follow the natural mountain trail, and step up, there is a bench on the way. Ric said bluntly: "This position is the smoke grid."

Ang Ping Luoshan once picked up a hundred cigarette butts
Ric continued: "I tried camping at Ngong Ping camp once. I cleared the trail when I was down. I ended up with a garbage bag. The most exaggerated thing is that I got more than 110 cigarette butts. The cigarette butts are mainly at rest points along the road, such as Gazebos, benches, and open viewing areas. Visitors will stay in those places. If those people smoke, the cigarette butts will stay there."
Leave the bench and continue up the mountain to the bifurcation, which is the intersection of MacLehose Trail, Ma'anshan Country Trail and the Shilin Trail to Luchao. This place is called Jinluao, where there is a pavilion. Ric said, "Junk black spots? This is the pavilion in Jinlu'ao. I have seen that there are many peels and peanut shells at the foot of the tree. Some of them are placed for a while, and some are fresh. Some times, I am clean, but A week later, I saw trash in the same location again, which means people are used to throwing trash there."

During the epidemic, many novices were found
After working in Ma'anshan for 5 years, Ric will start from zero almost, and will stop operating the church for many years, and become the Anshan Discovery Museum, let the public understand the history of the Maanshan mine, and become a resting place for mountain hikers. Ric said that since the epidemic started in January this year, the number of people hiking has increased sharply. "Our exploration hall is right next to the country park. Since January, we have found more outings and garbage, many of them are novices, because they will come to us to ask Road and different enquiries."

Ric sighed: "We all take Maanshan country trails from time to time, and we see that the garbage problem is indeed more serious than before." The data submitted by the AFCD to the Country Park and Marine Park Committee indicated that 276 tons of garbage were collected in January this year, compared with last year. In the first three months of this year, the total amount of garbage was 874 tons, an increase of 24% from the first quarter of last year. The country park had more than 3.4 million tourists in the first three months of this year, an increase of 8.5% from the same period last year.
Although the Anshan Discovery Museum is in the mountains, Ric does not feel that the work place is remote, and he still enjoys Maâanshanâs natural environment and rural sentiment. âI know the villagers and everyone will say hello after they have gone to the village. We eat. Sometimes we leave work and donât want to leave this mountain. We might as well camp overnight on the mountain."

Ric hopes to use the Anshan Discovery Museum to gather the public. In addition to introducing the history and culture of the mine, he also hopes to do something for Maanshan through this platform. The mountain waste problem is serious, and the Luchao Mountain fire in February, so the Anshan Discovery Museum launched the "Wild Mountain Miracle Day" to clear the trail and promote conservation. Ric cherishes Ma'anshan's country environment and hopes that everyone will work together to protect it. He sighs: "This place is really comfortable and people can stop and rest."
