(CNN Spanish) - “I have green eyes, a little frizzy and I'm white. I do not want to discriminate, but I believe that my conditions do not make me compatible with the rest of the people of the Movement for Socialism ”, this is the phrase that cost the position to the now ex-minister of Mining and Metallurgy, Fernando Vásquez.

The former minister expressed himself in this way in response to some political accusations that related him to the party of former President Evo Morales, Movement to Socialism.

Vásquez apologized on Saturday about those statements, assuring that "I think that touching on that topic is quite sensitive to begin with, but I think it was also a reaction to what was being pointed out to me as a massist or acolyte of the previous government. I admit that my answer has been totally wrong, with a lot of irony and irony is not always well understood. In any case, I apologize for expressing myself in that way, ”he stated at a press conference.

But hours later, through his Twitter account, the interim president of Bolivia, Janine Áñez, announced her decision to remove him from office in the executive.

“As president, I have decided to dismiss Minister Vásquez for his racist expressions. In this government I do not accept any corruption or discrimination. Bolivia is a family where we are all equal ”, he pointed out.

The bench of the Movement for Socialism in the Senate of the Legislative Assembly had condemned the expressions of the now ex-minister Vásquez and called for his immediate removal from office.
