The branch of the General Organization for Housing in Aleppo is implementing a number of projects to restore and maintain the damage left by terrorism and launched new projects in a number of regions to secure adequate housing for citizens.

Eng. Mayada Al-Tanjy, Director of the Foundation’s Branch, explained in a statement to a SANA correspondent that the Foundation’s projects are distributed in several regions, the most important of which is the youth housing project in the Al-Masaraniah area east of Aleppo, which was subjected to significant damage due to terrorism amounting to one billion and one hundred million Syrian pounds and in the first stage, an amount of 80 million Syrian pounds was allocated from Reconstruction budget, according to which four contracts were implemented to perform initial maintenance in 1080 apartments, in addition to the implementation of four other contracts at the expense of private contractors who did not complete the implementation of these projects and at their expense, as they were again paved to the Military Construction Corporation at the value of two and a half billion Syrian pounds.

Al-Tanji pointed out that during the last government meeting in Aleppo, an amount of one billion and 200 million Syrian pounds was allocated to complete the implementation of the Foundation's projects, including an amount of 800 million for the Maasraniyya region, and the executive bills and minutes of the agreement were prepared to contract with the Military Construction Corporation to continue the implementation of the restoration of the damaged buildings, indicating that the institution has removed Violations and compensation for the occupants of alternative housing, thus 29 sections were emptied and 870 apartments for labor housing for the public and private sectors were outsourced at a total cost of 7 billion Syrian pounds and the project was directly undertaken and the foundations excavated and the completion rate reached 20 percent.

She said that 400 million pounds have been allocated for the housing project in the Friday market area near Hanano housing east of Aleppo, and includes the restoration of 900 apartments out of 1640 apartments, noting that two projects north of Hanano district containing 600 housing units, and in Al-Ansari Al-Sharqi, west of Aleppo, have four towers that include 164 housing. With the Reconstruction Committee to monitor the amount necessary for its restoration and handover to subscribers.

She indicated that the Foundation continues to conduct studies for the Sheikh Zayat project in the north-east of Aleppo, where 240 hectares have been acquired and contracted with the General Company for Studies and Technical Consultations to carry out organizational studies for the project.

The Foundation is preparing to implement the Ashrafieh projects and inventory the damages, as the project area is 229 hectares and can accommodate 13 thousand apartments, as 2,400 apartments were previously started before the crisis.
