Tunisian authorities announced on Monday the opening from June 27 of land, air and sea borders, which had been closed in mid-March to slow the spread of the new coronavirus pandemic.

The national coronavirus body "has decided to open all borders" of Tunisia from June 27, without giving details of the health measures that will be taken, according to a press release from the government presidency on his facebook page.

The decision was announced after a meeting of this expert body with the head of government Elyes Fakhfakh. Travel between governorates will be allowed from June 4.

Tunisians repatriated from abroad, who are currently subject to a compulsory 14-day quarantine at State expense in homes or hotels made available to the government, will now be forced to spend seven days in isolation in a hotel at their expense.

When they leave, they will be subject to "rigorous health monitoring" for an additional seven days, adds the press release, which does not specify the terms of quarantine after June 27. A press conference is scheduled for Wednesday at the presidency of the government to detail the measures, said the same source.
