Hong Kong bans annual vigil for Tiananmen Square events

For the first time in 30 years, Hong Kong police have banned the annual vigil for the Tiananmen Square events due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic on mass concentrations, according to an official letter shared with CNN. Every year the event gathers a crowd that remembers the victims of the Chinese army massacre that occurred on June 4, 1989.
