Freising - Although cultural events are an integral part of a great many people, the artists are currently falling through the grid of Corona Help. For some of them it is becoming increasingly tight - a good solution does not seem to be within reach. The Freising artist Norbert Bürger also sees the overall situation rather bleak.

It is actually not so easy to reach citizens: an artist who is constantly “on the road” and feels that he is performing a hundred times at the same time. This time, however, Bürger calls back quickly: He has just come from jogging on the Isar. The 52-year-old has a clear opinion about the current situation: "It will take a long time, and some stages will probably disassemble it."

Citizens: "This is terrible and totally difficult for everyone"

His tour with New York drummer Sean Noonan through Germany also had to be canceled, which annoyed citizens quite a bit. It is also still completely unclear when the Munich laughing and shooting company can open again - citizens are part of the permanent ensemble there. "This is all terrible and totally difficult for everyone," emphasizes the Freising exceptional artist. He is also certain: "It will be tight for the small stages, the Olympic Hall will survive."

Bürger's only current bright spot is the Schwabing clubhouse, or rather the BR television broadcasts from the Munich cult stage. As a stage guitarist, he accompanies the mixed show as the "toughest show band in the world - Bürger from Hell" - only recently four programs were recorded again. Although without an audience and a little different than usual, the Freising “totally enjoyed” being on stage again. Under the moderation of the cabaret artist and actress Constanze Lindner, a few programs will again be filmed next week.

Rescue measures: "Don't get it completely"

Nonetheless, Citizen frankly admits: "I am now living on my reserves, but I will not be able to hold out until the end of the year." His plan: concerts in the living room and in the garden together with the singer Julia Schröter. Because citizens cannot rely on the support from outside, the applications are complex and paradoxical: "I don't get it completely," said Citizens about any financial rescue measures from Bavaria or the artists' social security fund. "It's pretty valentinesque." In his opinion, it would be very simple: Fix 1000 euros a month for the artists to avert the grossest damage.

Bürger sees the current engagement of the cultural officer Susanne Günther (Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen) positively: "One who knows what she is talking about and will certainly do the right thing." and create opportunities for the artists.

The artist sees himself again on the street

Citizens do not have a direct personal emergency plan for a possible second wave - online streaming is generally great, but it doesn't really feel like it: there is simply no direct contact with the audience, especially at the cabaret.

Despite all the negative effects, Bürger also noticed the other side of the crisis: "It was once important to drive down - and now you can see: some are completely overpaid, others completely underpaid." He himself used the time to write new pieces - because suddenly "space for art" emerged. In an extreme case, according to Bürger, he would stop playing on the street again. As a street musician, how it all started.
