Octopus officially landed on Apple Pay today. Octopus announced that it can be used on the iPhone and Apple Watch. It also pointed out that with the express transportation mode of Apple Pay, customers are using transportation, through the iPhone and Apple Watch, a simple "beep" can be unimpeded.

Octopus stated that customers do not need Face ID or Touch ID to unlock, nor do they need to use other operations. Transaction details and balances are instantly displayed on the iPhone or Apple Watch screen.

However, due to the overwhelming response from Octopus on Apple Pay on the first day of its launch, approximately 11.000 users failed to add a new card to the system from 11.30am to 12.19pm. In just a few simple steps, customers can join the Octopus on the iPhone through the "wallet" app or the Octopus App. Customers can also add value to the Octopus at any time and anywhere on the Apple Pay on the iPhone. Octopus on iPhone and Apple Watch is applicable to iPhone 8 and Apple Watch Series 3 or above. The system must be updated to iOS 13.5 and watchOS 6.2.5. If the customer wants to add the Octopus to the iPhone, first open the wallet app and press "+", then open the Watch App of the iPhone, and then click "Wwallet & Apple Pay" to add the Octopus.

As for transferring the physical card to the mobile phone to use the Octopus function, will it be impossible to use the existing discount? Li Yu'er, Director of Business and Marketing of Octopus Card, said that most of the discounts will be transferred to, but individual decimal merchants may not be included in the scope. Customers may first check with the relevant merchants themselves.

She said that this new feature covers the rental version of adults, seniors, and the rental version of personal octopus. The Octopus for people with disabilities is not covered because it is a special Octopus with discounts on rides. As for the sales version of Octopus and the student Octopus with MTR ride discounts, the new features are also not included.

She reminded that if a customer uses a physical card and wants to use the transfer discount, it is not appropriate to transfer the physical card to the iPhone or Apple Watch on the first journey, otherwise the transfer discount cannot be obtained. Similarly, if you use a physical card to park your car and then transfer it to your iPhone or Apple Watch, the relevant discount cannot be transferred.
