Warngau - Even on horseback, the law enforcement officers were now present at Taubenberg on Pentecost weekend: Supported by the rider relay of the Oberbayern-Süd police headquarters, the Holzkirchner service checked the behavior of cyclists in the area of the nationally known mountain bike hotspot Taubenberg on Sunday and Monday. According to the police, the officials also found violations, but initially left it at "oral instructions".

Conflict has been smoldering for years

The smoldering conflict between mountain bikers who hiss off the official ways through the forest and farmers in Warngau had flared up again on Father's Day (May 21). A farmer chased a biker who was traveling on his dirt road with the tractor to a restaurant where an argument broke out. The biker claimed to have been injured and reported the farmer.

Under the impression of this incident, the police wanted to prevent further escalations on the Taubenberg on the Pentecost weekend, which was very popular with the public. The problem: Individual mountain bikers leave the official trails and look for “wild trails” through the forest. "This destroys vegetation and disturbs the game," the police said. Driving on such trails represents violations of nature conservation and hunting law.

Police complained to five cyclists during the holidays. "They were informed of their misconduct," says the press release. Over the coming weekends, the police want to continue patrolling the Taubenstein area. "Relatively and with sensitivity," as deputy head of department Robert Hirschel announced. It is conceivable not to just stop at instructions, but to report such violations to the district office, which acts as a persecution authority and can issue penalties if necessary.
