Day trippers were also looking for areas in side streets to park their cars, even in dead ends and with a turning hammer. 225 cars were counted at the hiking car park alone on Jägergasse. The large car park at Gut Aiderbichl was also full, which is rare.
Rush could get worse with bathers
"It was borderline, there was a lot going on," said Mayor Hans Lang (SPD) on Monday about the expected rush in Iffeldorf. He didn't want to speak of “catastrophic”. There was still a way through. But the situation is "very stressful for residents and nature".
What worries the town hall chief is, on the one hand, the parking situation, on the other hand, the many visitors who move around in the sensitive nature reserve Osterseen. For a long time, there was a fear that it would get worse if the water temperature rose and more bathers came. Iffeldorfer have seen columns of day trippers to the Easter lakes in the past. Travel restrictions during the Corona crisis are now exacerbating the rush.
Local council committee must talk about problems and possible consequences
The local council committee for the environment, energy and transport will soon speak about the problems and possible consequences. "We don't have too much time," said Mayor Lang. "By the end of June at the latest," he explains, the precautions that are being considered should be implemented. For example, unilateral parking bans on roads are conceivable, but this could increase parking pressure elsewhere. According to Lang, there are ideas, but he would like to have them only discussed in the committee. You will also talk to the residents. What also needs to be solved is the toilet problem at the large bathing area at Fohnsee.
