EDF Renouvelables, a subsidiary of EDF, announced Tuesday the launch of the construction of a large offshore wind farm, in the English Channel off Fécamp, for a total investment estimated at 2 billion euros.
With a capacity of 500 MW, this park will consist of 71 wind turbines located between 13 and 22 km off the coast, for commissioning by 2023.
This park will produce the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of 770,000 people, or more than 60% of the inhabitants of Seine-Maritime, said the electrician in a press release.
The majority of the site, which will mobilize more than 1,400 local jobs, will be financed by a debt without recourse.
EDF Renouvelables is associated on this project with Enbridge, an energy infrastructure company, and WPD, a European producer of renewable energies.
