An unknown perpetrator was up to mischief on beautiful meadows near Kleinberghofen last week: he poisoned the plants there!
Nature protection guard Michael Keller could not believe what he saw two days before Ascension when he checked the blind meadows he had cared for southeast of Kleinberghofen: on this wet meadow belonging to the district, almost all flowering plants were withered and deformed, including particularly protected or endangered species like this Broad-leaved orchids, the marsh marigold or the large meadow button. Together with fresh tractor traces, a clear indication, according to the district office, that herbicides were applied extensively by an unknown person.
The meadow is a regionally important wet meadow with spring swamp, which is a protected wetland and is recorded in Bavaria's biotope mapping - and which has been sustainably and significantly damaged, according to the district office.
The spraying off of the large meadow button population also means that the dark meadow button ant bluebell found here, a highly endangered and strictly protected butterfly species, has lost its fodder and therefore its livelihood.
The area has been tended by the landscape maintenance association for many years and the crop has been used as hay. This has allowed a stable stock to develop. Efforts to protect species have now been destroyed by the use of pesticides.
The district office has filed a complaint. Witnesses who have made observations in the week before Ascension Day should report to PI Dachau, 0 81 31/56 10. dn
