Forest loss increases 2.8% every six seconds

According to a study by the University of Maryland and the Global Forest Watch platform, every six seconds the world loses an extension of forest as extensive as a soccer field. The report indicates that 11,900,000 hectares of tree canopy were lost, 2.8% more than in 2018 and indicates that the main cause was fires in countries such as Brazil and Australia.
