If President Alberto Fernández decided to reopen activities in the provinces where there were no cases of coronavirus in the last week, more than half of the districts could return to normal now. On the other hand, if Governor Axel Kicillof promoted a similar measure for his Buenos Aires suburbs, he would not have good news to give. According to official data, since last Tuesday cases have increased in all the municipalities of the GBA , that populous and complex urban framework.

This reality alerts the mayors and the provincial authorities , who coexist with another "ghost": the expansion of the pandemic in the City, formally an independent district, but with which they coexist (and on which they depend in many cases) daily. .

From May 26 to Monday, June 1 (last update), 1,519 new cases of Covid 19 were recorded in 28 municipalities of the Conurbano. The main increases were in three games: Avellaneda (added 155), Quilmes (259) and La Matanza (211). The first two were those that opened a new crisis front in the Province: contagions in vulnerable neighborhoods, in his case in the shared Villa Azul.

That of La Matanza is demographic and historical: it is, by far, the most populated district and suffers decades of postponement. Clarín recounted days ago the tension that exists in that quasi province where the Peronist Fernando Espinoza governs (again): the spike in infections is expected with concern, with the idea that "the worst did not happen." One fact is enough to justify the fear: La Matanza has 114 villas.

Four other districts with a significant increase in infections in the last week were Lanús (90), Lomas de Zamora (72), General San Martín (69) and Almirante Brown (60).

At the other extreme -the ones that rose the least- there is a combination of small parties (the peripheral ones Presidente Perón and San Vicente and even Ituzaingó and Hurlingham ) or medium / large ones with better economic situation, especially in the northern cordon ( Vicente López, San Isidro , San Fernando and Pilar ).

The cut of the morning and the distribution of the deaths

The official data of the Province is updated three times a day , in the site known as "Situation Room". There is a case cut in the morning (between 8.30 and 10 a.m.), another past at noon (around 2 p.m.) and a last one when the afternoon closes (approximately 7.30 p.m.). In the survey of this very early Tuesday , 131 more cases had been registered than on Monday night (the total went from 6,168 to 6,299), out of about 600 tests.

"This marks two things for you: one, that the Province is heading to go to the City in number of daily infections; and the other, that the percentage of positivity (cases detected in proportion to the tests carried out) remains high, above the 20% . The infectologists consider that the pandemic begins to decrease when that percentage is below 10% and the countries that reopen their activities have it in less than 5% ", explains a source that statistically monitors some Buenos Aires authorities .

As for the deaths from the coronavirus in the Conurbano, since Tuesday there were 29 more, spread over 11 matches : Avellaneda (2), Escobar (2), Florencio Varela (1), General San Martín (3), La Matanza (9), Merlo (3), Moreno (3), Morón (2), San Isidro (2), San Miguel (1) and San Vicente (1).

Thus, the total number of registered deaths in the entire Province rose to 236 until this Monday, over 6,168 infections, which gives a mortality rate of 3.8% .
