MTRCL and the Productivity Promotion Bureau have worked together to introduce innovative technology to introduce five robots, named "pathfinder", "pathfinder", "inspector", and two "cleaners".

"Pathfinder" and "Guideman" provide passengers with itinerary inquiry services and guide passengers to specific locations of the station through positioning functions, such as entrances and exits, toilets, etc.; "Inspectors" will patrol the station after picking up the car at night. For example, the analysis technology checks the status of the facility; and the two "cleaners" are equipped with a circulation filter system, which automatically cleans the station after receiving the car at night, saving more than half of the water compared to other cleaning machines.

In terms of railway maintenance and repair, MTR has introduced the "Intelligent Vehicle Detection Robot". The robot is currently installed in the Baxiang Depot to specifically inspect the SP1900 "Qianjiu" train on the West Rail Line.

The robot has six groups of 2D and 3D lenses, four of which are mounted on the top and shoot the bottom of the train at multiple angles through the robotic arm. Among them, more than 1800 photos can be taken in 1.5 hours, and image recognition analysis and artificial intelligence will be used to Identify the loose screws, the presence of foreign objects and oil leakage, and immediately notify the maintenance personnel to follow up.

In addition, MTR also introduced real-time monitoring equipment to install equipment at Mong Kok East Station to monitor the train pantograph status during travel time; and set up a data studio in Fo Tan to integrate and analyze the big data collected by train operations.

Ms. Li Jiarun, Director of MTR Vehicle Services, said that the relevant robots were introduced at a cost of 4 million yuan. The robots will take the lead in the third quarter of this year and will be put into service at Kai Tak Station.
