New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern denounced the killing of an African-American young man, George Floyd, asphyxiated after an American policeman perched his knee on his neck, affirming her standing with solidarity protests in her country in support of the participants in the anti-racist demonstrations of the American police.
Reuters quoted Ardern as saying today that she "was horrified by what she saw in the Floyd incident," stressing that her country rejects racism and hatred wherever it exists in the world.
Thousands of New Zealanders demonstrated yesterday in solidarity with the protests of the United States and various parts of the world that denounced the way Floyd was killed.
Yesterday, US President Donald Trump threatened to use extreme force against protesters participating in anti-racist demonstrations that have plagued various cities after Floyd’s death by suffocation by the police.
