The national government made official the extension of the term to renegotiate the debt of bonds issued under foreign law.
This was confirmed by the Ministry of Economy through a resolution published in the Official Gazette on Tuesday, which was when the current proposal expired.
This is an amount of US $ 66,300 million.
The official text based the decision that "the Argentine Republic continues to receive opinions and suggestions from investors."
The resolution, signed by Minister Martín Guzmán, adds that the suggestions are being analyzed "so, in this context, it is considered necessary to carry out a new extension to continue the discussions and provide an adequate framework for investors to continue contributing to a successful debt restructuring. "
In this way, the dates stipulated for the announcement of the results (it will be June 15) and the settlement of the exchange (June 18) are also postponed.
The deadline expired this Tuesday. However, the government anticipated, hours before maturity, that it would extend it to "maximize" the support of the bondholders.
The initial initiative, which involved the non-payment of principal and interest maturities until November 2023, was rejected on two occasions.
