Surprise in a bad image ranking: a leader was worse than Cristina Kirchner and Mauricio Macri

It is an Opinaia poll that measures the country's main politicians. Only three have more positive than negative evaluation.

As extremes of the crack, Cristina Kirchner and Mauricio Macri have a negative point in common. His figures generate strong rejection and even explain the subsistence of the other: the PRO leader won in 2015 due to a notorious anti-Kirchner impulse and Alberto Fernández (in formula with the former president) was consecrated in 2019 in the midst of renewed antimacrist sentiment. Therefore, former presidents often lead the bad image rankings . But in a new study that measured the country's main politicians, there was one that was worse : Nicolás del Caño, the deputy of the Left Front and also a candidate last year.

The national survey is from Opinaia , a pioneering consultancy in online measurements. This week he presented a study of 1,800 cases surveyed between May 15 and 22, with a margin of error of +/- 2.3%. The third and final chapter, in a 29-page report, is dedicated to the "Image of Leaders."

The work includes different variables and tables, and, in a sort of final table, what is known as a "net image" is compared . It is the number that is reached by taking from the calculation those who did not answer because they do not want or because they do not know the leader. Only opinions for and against. In this heads-up is that the former candidate for the president of the FIT figures last.

Del Caño's net image is 75% negative and 25% positive . A little better are Macri and Cristina, with - 64% and + 36% and - 61% and + 39%, respectively. Of the 12 leaders measured, another six remain in red balance:

- Sergio Massa : - 60% and + 40%.

- Martín Lousteau : - 57% and + 43%.

- Axel Kicillof : - 55% and + 45%.

- Juan Schiaretti : - 54% and + 46%.

- Gerardo Morales : - 51% and + 49%.

- María Eugenia Vidal : - 51% and + 49%.

The only three that end with a differential in favor are Alberto Fernández (the best, with + 72% and -28%), Horacio Rodríguez Larreta (+ 66 and -34%) and Roberto Lavagna (+ 56% and -44%).

The President and the head of the Buenos Aires Government appear in another positive graph of the survey: they were the politicians who best capitalized for their figure the fight against the pandemic. From February to May, Fernández posted 16 positive image points. With an alert: as other consultancies show, Opinaia has also dropped sharply in the last month (five points), although it still remains at high levels.

Larreta, meanwhile, rose 13 points positive since February and showed no changes between April and May. And how did the underdogs fare with the coronavirus? Del Caño and Macri lost three positive points and Cristina five .

Consolation for the FIT referent: when the "don't know it" is included in the results, which in its case reaches 20%, it is a little better than the former leaders in the negative: sum 59%, against 62% of Macri and 61% from Cristina. The vice does not have much to celebrate either : when the negative image is broken down between "bad" and "very bad", the latter item leads with 49%.
