The themes of the first meeting of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Tourism and Hotel Training after the issuance of the law to create the authority focused on the mechanism for setting and approving the general plans of the authority and taking decisions that contribute to the development of the tourism education and training sector and providing the labor market with trained and efficient cadres.

The Minister of Tourism, Engineer Mohamed Rami Radwan Martini, stressed that the law gives great support to the tourism sector, especially that the sector plan 2019-2030 previously approved focus mainly on tourism and hotel education and training, stating that the authority will be the administrative umbrella supervising the work of schools, institutes and centers and charting the path of the education sector Tourist and hotel training, and upgrading the skill and efficiency of human cadres, which will have a positive impact on tourism services.

In turn, the Director of the General Authority for Tourism and Hotel Training, Engineer Faisal Najati, emphasized that tourism education is one of the main work axes for the ministry in addition to its contribution to raising the quality of tourism sector services and providing the labor market with distinguished cadres to raise the level of quality of services in tourist establishments, pointing out that the most important tasks of the authority’s board of directors Programs and action plans commensurate with the Ministry's vision to develop the educational and training process, especially that tourism work has a specific privacy and reflects a civilized image and contributes to creating socio-economic development in various regions.

For his part, Dean of the College of Tourism in Damascus, Dr. Ayman Diop, explained the importance of integration between academic education and technical and vocational training so that the student and graduate possess the knowledge, skill and work ethics that are required in the tourism job market.

It is noteworthy that the Authority’s Board of Directors includes in its membership representatives of the ministries of tourism, higher education, scientific research and education, the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and the General Federation of Trade Unions and Technical Institutes of Tourism and Hotel Sciences and special tourism training centers.
