After a hiatus of more than two months, the tourist establishments returned today to carry out their work according to terms and criteria set by the Ministry of Tourism to comply with the precautionary measures related to tackling the Corona virus, provided that the work of these establishments and their performance is evaluated after thirty days according to the level of commitment to the controls and developments in the epidemic recession.

The Director of Quality and Supervision at the Ministry of Tourism, Ziyad Al-Balkhi, stated in a statement to the delegate of Sanaa that all tourist feeding establishments that include self-catering restaurants, cafes, tea halls, cafeterias, nightclubs and night clubs returned today to work within the requirements, criteria and operating ratios that achieve two criteria (economic feasibility and public health guarantee) indicated Occupancy rates in tourist establishments are set at 40 percent and residence facilities at 75 percent, and if the epidemic recedes globally and locally, it will return to work completely.

Al-Balkhi said that the opening preceded the tours of the establishments to educate their owners about the importance of implementing the requirements and the mechanism to implement them and the precautions that fall on the facility in the event of recklessness, pointing out that firm measures will be taken against violators.

Al-Balkhi stated in a statement to SANA that based on an evaluation of the reality of the work of these establishments and the commitment of their owners to health controls after thirty days, an amendment of occupancy rates is increased or decreased according to the established mechanism and precautionary measures to address the spread of the epidemic to be taken in the second stage of work that extends from 4-7- 2020 to 4-8-2020.

Mohamed Mamlouk, head of the Damascus Chamber of Tourism and vice president of the Federation of the Syrian Chamber of Tourism and the owner of the downtown hall, pointed out that the losses were great for the owners of tourist establishments and their return to work means the rotation of the wheel of the economy, explaining that most of the owners of the establishments apply health standards for kitchens and food delivery and workers were educated to implement Hygiene and public health measures to protect themselves and protect others. Workers were also stressed to continuously sterilize hands, indicating that a number of foodstuffs that included more than one substance have been removed.

The owners of the establishments assured the delegate of SANA of the importance of the decision to open their facilities and return to the practice of their business, as Mohamed Hisham Dooly, the owner of the facility, stated that he took all precautions in sterilization of his employees, including sterilization of workers, wearing masks and paws, and reducing the number of chairs and tables within the facility to provide good service to the citizen in a healthy and proper manner.

Fayez Maidani, who owns a restaurant chain, indicated his commitment before the spread of the epidemic to health instructions, but with the spread of the epidemic, the proportion of commitment increased, especially with regard to sterilization that is taking place today more.

It was agreed on the criteria and requirements for resuming the provision of services in tourist establishments based on a joint study from the ministries of Tourism, Local Administration, Environment and Interior, which included the reopening of these facilities according to stages subject to continuous evaluation.
