Can you create a choir and sing through an online platform? Singers from Bad Tölz now had to deal with some pitfalls - and took it with humor.

Bad Tölz - Video conferencing via the Internet is difficult to come by. No app around the world has been downloaded as often as the “Zoom” conference platform. But modern technology has its limits: The Tölzer Sängerrunde, which had gathered on Thursday evening at the invitation of the Protestant dean, had to experience this. Acoustically it was not a great moment of the choir - but it was all the more amusing.

Usually the group of singers meets in the Kurpark. However, this is currently not possible due to the contact restrictions. Necessity makes you inventive: Dean of the Dean's Office Elisabeth Göbel quickly moved the open singing to the Internet. This is a completely new experience for most of those involved.

The first faces appear on the screen shortly before 7 p.m. "Now you are there," echoes through the speakers. "And now you're gone again." This style continues. "Who is speaking?" The meaningful answer on the black screen: "I." Siegbert Waegner calmly follows the appearance and disappearance of the faces: "In the meantime, I drink my tea." After ten minutes, eight people are actually on the screen see.

"For us it's an experiment," says Göbel. "I don't know if it will work, but it's nice that you are all getting involved." At that moment, you can hear a shattering metallic whistle. “If there is a lot of feedback, I would have to ask her to mute. Then everyone has to sing for themselves. "

Lyrics appear on the screen. First of all, the group should try “All birds are already there”: “Nothing can go wrong,” says Göbel. She starts on her accordion. It takes a few seconds for the sound to reach all participants. One after the other, the singing begins, everyone sings in confusion. When Göbel had already put her accordion aside, Siegbert Waegner is still singing at the top of his throat.

The group commented on the general tohuwabohu with roaring laughter. Goebel is combative: "Apparently the sound arrives with a delay - doesn't bother me." Waegner agrees: "Just ignore it." Another participant recommends: "Sing short stanzas, then the time delay does not matter."

From one day to the next from one hundred to zero: Tölz's cultural sector suffers from corona effects

It continues with "Grüß Gott, you beautiful May". The difficulties remain. When everyone is finished, Waegner says: "Was that just the second stanza - or the Kata stanza?" With a laugh he adds: "If singing doesn't work out today, we can blame it on the government."

The singers continue to fight their way through the program in an iron and cheerful mood. The next song sounds as if a whole swarm of stuttering cuckoos is singing: "Cuckoo - cuckoo - cuckoo - cuckoo - it sounds - it sounds - it sounds - from - from - the - the - forest - forest - forest - forest."

After half an hour, the last participant also solved her technical problems with her PC, nine faces can be seen on the screen for a moment, then the first participant says goodbye: "Sorry, I have a very unstable internet connection . I have to leave you. ”Meanwhile it starts raining in Tölz. "It is an advantage that we are on the Internet," says Goebel. "We couldn't sing outside now." After three quarters of an hour the experiment is over. "What's the mood like?" Asks Göbel to the group. "Should we repeat that?" After a few seconds of pause, a polyphonic "yes - yes - yes" comes out of the speakers. Waegner says: “Tomorrow I will do something similar with my grandchildren. That was a good exercise. There is room for 50 more people on my screen. ”Another singer agrees:“ We'll do it again. There's a lot to laugh about here. "
