The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Chen Fan, attended the Legislative Council meeting today (3rd) and responded to the oral question of the practical political round table Tian Beichen. He mentioned that in response to the scandal of the Central Saudi Arabian Line project, the Government has prosecuted Leighton in accordance with the Buildings Ordinance, but it was inconvenient to disclose details. He also announced that the entire Tunma Line could be opened to traffic earlier than the third quarter of next year.

Since the Hung Hom Station of the Shazhong Line was revealed in 2018, the government has established an independent investigation committee to thoroughly investigate the incident. The final report of the committee was released last month, which ruled that MTR and Leighton were responsible for serious errors in the management and monitoring system; and the "Tunma Line Phase I", namely Tai Wai Station to Kai Tak Station, was opened to traffic on February 14 .
