She doesn't want to do dirty laundry or hand out blame. Ursula Feuerer wants a "conciliatory view". The owner of the popular “movement garden” in Murnau's Kemmelpark speaks up.

Murnau - Background: There was an emotional debate last week in the market town council, which also dealt with the former deer sports facility. The exercise garden, which was located in a municipal property (building 120), had to close. On March 15th because of Corona. City Council Felix Burger (SPD) expressed criticism. City council chief Rolf Beuting (ÖDP / Citizens' Forum) should have shown more courtesy and a more courageous rescue attempt. The mayor bounced off the attacks in the debate and rejected the allegations. An additional kindergarten group is to be set up in the rooms.

Social meeting point

Feuerer does not want to go into these debates at all. She founded the exercise garden 20 years ago. The 58-year-old also worked with children for the first few years, later only with older people. It was a platform for independent course leaders and therapists. These were sub-tenants of Feuerer. She herself had twelve groups of 15 to 17 people, in total she did rehabilitation sports with around 200 citizens. "It was not just a commercial enterprise, but a social meeting point," emphasizes the 58-year-old. A forum "for a lot of older people". People, often well over 70 years old, seniors who have had hip or knee surgery, who have had osteoporosis, asthma, diabetes or obesity, or even previous cancer patients. So definitely high-risk patients in Corona times.

Health is "top priority"

“It became clear relatively quickly that there would be no more work this year,” says Feuerer. Economy is one thing. But health is "top priority". It was therefore clear to the owner: “I don't do anything where people get infected like a hotspot. You move on a lot of black ice. "

The rip cord pulled

According to Feuerer, the exercise garden was a “healthy company. It worked ”. But then she pulled the ripcord due to corona and quit. "I didn't go broke and I wasn't disgusted," she emphasizes. "I didn't want to accumulate rent debts." She was not ready to defer. "I would have preferred a waiver of costs." Feuerer commends two municipal councils from whom she received support: Felix Burger and CSU parliamentary group leader Rudolf Utzschneider. Feuerer, who was formerly head of exercise therapy at the Hochried clinic, does not want to mention the amount of the rent for the 150 square meters. Just so much: “The church didn't give me anything. But it was reasonably priced. "

Feuerer looks ahead

From Feuerer's perspective, the focus is currently not on whether the exercise garden would still be there with more help. But the question: what can you do now? "Good social and physical therapy support for older people is becoming increasingly important." The 58-year-old wants to continue to stand up for this clientele in the future. She thinks it is conceivable to volunteer for relevant projects - or to offer rehabilitation sports one day.
