And even if the situation has eased since the end of April: the current corona infections and deaths are still discussed every day. The data also form the basis for the policy that decides on easing or renewed exit restrictions. That is why you will find all of the Corona virus numbers from all counties throughout Germany and constantly updated.

How many people in Germany have contracted the Sars-CoV-2 coronavirus ? Are the numbers rising, are the numbers falling? How many people died from Covid-19? This article provides you with a constantly updated overview of the corona virus in all German counties.  

Our corona virus card shows you all cases of infection and death in all 401 German counties, which has been confirmed to us by the respective authority. It is good to know that there is a certain amount of time between infection of a person and the appearance of numbers. We have written down what the numbers mean exactly and how we collect them for you below. On the map , a district is colored more violet, the more it is affected by infections, converted to 100,000 inhabitants.

How do I use the above Corona card? On the smartphone, you can zoom into the map as you like with two fingers or the plus-minus symbols in the top right. At a certain zoom level, the counties are labeled. The cutout can be moved in the same way. On your computer click on the symbols to zoom - alternatively you can also use the CTRL key on your keyboard together with the mouse wheel. A tip or a click on the district reveals all associated coronavirus data.   

How current is the corona data? We are constantly updating the numbers. You will find a time in the footer of our card. However, the data cannot reflect the current infection process. The background is the reporting chain, which ranges from the occurrence of the infection, to the test, to the laboratory and the health department, to the official figures.   

What do the numbers say and what doesn't? The number of infections includes all cases of an infection with the novel coronavirus Sars-CoV-2, which has been recorded and confirmed by the health authorities. When it comes to deaths, it depends on the federal states: some consider deaths with a Covid 19 disease, some only one death directly from the disease caused by the coronavirus.

Where the coronavirus data and numbers come from, what they mean

Where did the data come from? We work with the Munich-based company Fusionbase, which elaborately queries the official data directly from the German federal states and their respective authorities. We interpret this data and prepare it, for example in the form of a Germany map. For our additional Bavaria offer, we obtain the data directly from the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL). 

Why can't I find the number of reproductions? From the point of view of the German counties, it is currently not sensible to state the number of reproductions. For Germany or the federal states, for example, it specifies the number of people infected by an infection. It describes the speed of coronavirus spread *. However, this is not shown for German counties, since the number of cases is often too small and / or outdated and there are other data at this level that better illustrate the infection process. 

Where can I find number x, where can I find information y? We are also constantly expanding this offer for you. Please write us your suggestions. Even if the coronavirus situation in Germany has now eased somewhat, the development of data and research is still rapid. We strive to take this into account. One sentence for coloring the map: We deliberately color a district in purple at a third of the maximum value of all counties in order to be able to offer a meaningful map across Germany. This compensates for the fact that some German counties such as Tirschenreuth are out of the ordinary with extreme values. You can always find the exact dates by clicking on the district.
