The commander of the fire brigade, Colonel Mohamed Mahameed, said in a statement to the SANA correspondent that the fire brigade invokes around the clock from mid-May to the end of August every year to face fires in all areas of the governorate, indicating that most fires are unknown, but that high temperatures are a major factor in the spread of a patch Fires, especially in agricultural lands.
Mahameed indicated that the regiment extinguished 450 fires during the month of May alone, explaining that the geographical distribution of these fires affected all areas of the province, pointing out that most of them are fires in agricultural lands, while fires within residential or industrial areas are few.
And that the regiment has 23 mechanisms, while its elements number 60 people, distributed on the regiment center and all the firefighting units deployed in 12 regions in the governorate, indicating that the system of shifts has been adopted for the fact that there are 12 elements in each shift in the city center and the rest of the units are repulsed around the clock.
Mahameed pointed to the mechanism of firefighting units, where the units were distributed to the governorate areas, so the closest fire unit will go to the fire that is within its scope of work. In the event of a large fire, other firefighting vehicles are directed from neighboring areas and if required, vehicles from the center are directed to put out the fire, adding that there is an alert From all institutions and departments in the governorate to face the fire season, as the water, agricultural and technical services departments provided cars and tanks whose mission is to supply regiment cars with water and erect dirt berms to surround the fires, while the civil defense contributes to fire engines, evacuation and ambulance elements.
Sergeant Majd Al-Ghazali from the Directorate of Civil Defense in Daraa explained that the Civil Defense had put two fire trucks and water tanks at the disposal of the fire brigade to support his work as well as supporting the regiment in ambulance and evacuation.
