Police arrested a man on Tuesday on suspicion of breaking into an apartment in Ashdod and stealing wedding rings for a couple who were soon to get married. The rings were seized and returned to the young couple and the suspect's arrest extended.

On May 30, at around 10pm, a report was received at the police headquarters about an outbreak of an apartment in the first district of Ashdod. As a result, police immediately arrived at the scene and met a young woman, who said her and her partner's wedding rings were stolen. She said the rings were purchased for their wedding which was due in two weeks. In addition to the rings, a laptop and cash amount valued at thousands of shekels were stolen from the apartment.

Police at the scene opened an investigation into the incident and were able to identify the suspect in the burglary and theft of the rings. Yesterday, police located the suspect and detectives arrested him in Ashdod. The suspect found the rings, the laptop and the stolen cash. Detectives also found material suspected of being a drug and a knife.

Subsequently, the suspect, a resident of the city in his 30s, was taken for questioning at the police station. Today he was brought to trial in the Ashkelon Magistrate's Court, where his arrest was extended until June 7. Meanwhile, the incident investigation is ongoing.
