Greta Thunberg intervenes in German politics with clear words - and thus attacks Chancellor Merkel and NRW Prime Minister Laschet sharply.

  • Climate activist Greta Thunberg * is fighting fossil fuels.
  • That's why it doesn't suit the young Swede * that the Datteln 4 coal-fired power plant goes into operation in NRW .
  • It attacks German politics in more than clear terms.

Datteln - At the weekend there were vigorous, but far more peaceful protests by climate protectors against the commissioning of the highly controversial hard coal-fired power plant Datteln 4 in the northern Ruhr area. Activists from Fridays for Future , Greenpeace, Ende Terrain and BUND took to the streets  . The power plant was illuminated with slogans such as "Climate crisis made in Germany" and "How dare you".

Climate activists Greta Thunberg and Luisa Neubauer stunned: "Post-factual power plant"

Luisa Neubauer , the most prominent German climate activist, is stunned: "It is a post-factual power plant, all facts speak against it." It is a provocation to start the coal phase-out with a new coal-fired power plant. Dates 4 must be removed from the network clearly before 2037. "We will prevent this power plant, we will bring it to a standstill, we will win this conflict," announced Neubauer fiercely.

Greta Thunberg also speaks out about dates 4: "Shameful day"

Greta Thunberg also intervened in the German conflict. The 17-year-old Swede spoke on Twitter - with a more than clear announcement: “Today is a shameful day for Europe, as we are opening a brand new coal-fired power plant. We are committed to paving the way to avoid a climate catastrophe - and yet is this the signal we are sending to the rest of the world? ”

Greta Thunberg criticizes Merkel and Laschet's decision - against recommendation of the coal commission

Actually, the federal government had Chancellor Angela Merkel used charcoal Commission recommended for already built but not yet to seek negotiated solutions in operating coal-fired power plants located in order not to take them into operation. Therefore, the environmentalists see in the date 4 operated by Uniper a violation of the decisions of the coal commission.

Today is a shameful day for Europe, as we open up a brand new coal power plant. We have signed up to lead the way to avoid a climate disaster - and yet this the signal we send to the rest of the world?

But the federal government and the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia under Armin Laschet argue that 4 older hard coal-fired power plants will be shut down for dates. This would compensate for the additional carbon dioxide emissions from dates 4.

By the way: While the protests against the Datteln 4 coal-fired power plant have so far largely been peaceful, the demonstrations are increasingly getting out of control as a result of the murder of the African American George Floyd in the USA. Greta Thunberg, meanwhile, has confirmed assumptions about her future plans through a spokesman.
