Cologne: Höhner and her crew have to fight because of the coronavirus crisis
Some people may think that the Höhner are also financially well positioned - after all, they filled large halls in front of Corona. But as Krautmacher explains, not only the fate of the band members depends on the performances, but also that of the crew. 55 concerts had been canceled by summer, including the ten shows with a complete orchestra comprising 65 musicians. These figures show that the Höhner are by far not only responsible for themselves, that is, the group that all fans know from the stage. Many livelihoods in the background depend on their activities. That are currently put on hold. A few drive-in concerts obviously cannot compensate for this.
“If you have done well as in our case,” says Krautmacher, “you can spend a certain amount of time with reserves. But if no new fees come in , they are used up very quickly and bankruptcy threatens. ”Especially since the future is also uncertain: can the next carnival session take place in Cologne and the surrounding area? Has the Christmas tour been threatened before?

It is obviously an ongoing struggle in the Höhner cosmos. “Every day we try anew to check our system and find ways to save. After all, we also have a responsibility towards our crew. ”Some apparently forego money, other crew members stay afloat with 450 euro jobs. Despite various measures, considerable fixed costs remain.
Krautmacher's shocking conclusion: “ In the long run, we cannot keep up with it or compensate for it. If we can't play again, we have to close and start again from scratch at a later time. ”
The Cologne music scene is currently mourning the loss of an esteemed artist who was discovered dead in an apartment.
