The Legislative Council elections were held in September this year. Under the haze of the "Hong Kong version of the National Security Law", democratic parties from all walks of life worked hard to promote a primary election coordination mechanism for the "35+" goal. Dai Yaoting, an associate professor of the Hong Kong University School of Law who led the coordination work, said in an inquiry that the details of the coordination mechanism and preliminary selection plan will be announced on June 9. It is understood that the voter participation process commonly known as the "primary election" will be held on July 11 (Saturday) and 12 (Sunday).

Dai Yaoting said that because he did not want to collide with the Democratic District Councillors on Saturday, it is expected that a "35+" press conference will be held on June 9. (Profile picture)

Press conference postponed twice

Democrats reached a consensus on the primary election plan and coordination mechanism last month, and originally planned to hold a press conference at the end of May to announce the relevant details. However, due to the "Hong Kong version of the National Security Law" and other circumstances, the political atmosphere at that time was not suitable. Announce the preliminary election plan, then postponed until this Saturday (6th). Coincidentally, this Saturday happened to meet with the 18th District Council of Democrats to hold a chief joint meeting on the "Hong Kong version of the National Security Law", and finally decided to postpone the press conference until June 9, the first anniversary of the Anti-Amendment Parade.

Dai Yaoting said that because he did not want to collide with the Democratic District Councillors’ joint operation on Saturday, it is expected that a "35+" press conference would be held on June 9. He said that he would announce the details as soon as possible.

As for the details of the primary election, the voting day was originally scheduled to be up to three days. There is no online voting, only physical voting. However, due to the actual situation, the polling day of the primary election was changed to two days, which will be held on July 11 (Saturday) and 12 (Sunday). District direct elections and super district primary elections will be conducted at the same time. People familiar with the matter pointed out that since the majority of the votes in the primary election were district councillors' offices and "yellow shops", it was not a realistic consideration to ask the shops to stop operating for three consecutive days.

It is understood that Kowloon East aims at three seats. After the primary election, it will recommend the top five list to participate in the election. The lack of support and the final two polls in the polls need to be abandoned. (Profile picture)

Kowloon East recommends five teams to register

Democrats who have a position close to the localists believe that June 9 is the first anniversary of the 1 million anti-amendment parade. The details of "35+" will be announced on the day. Although it may not be the most suitable, it can also be regarded as a person of different spectrums of the democrats. Set up a "vote of honor" for more than half of the legislature.

According to various sources, the New Territories East and New Territories West will hold binding primary elections and select the generals who will represent the democratic factions in the formal elections, with the goal of "6 plus 1"; Hong Kong Island, Kowloon East and Kowloon West will adopt the "primary election" The dual-track system of "abandonment of elections" has no binding effect on primary elections. Candidates with insufficient support must abandon the election according to the results of the polls announced a few days before the official election. Among them, Hong Kong Island voters can cast four votes.

Jiulong East aims at 3 seats. After the primary election, it will recommend the top five list to participate in the election. The lack of support and the last two poll candidates in the polls need to abandon the election.
