Reuters reported on June 4 that an unnamed spokesman for the International Affairs Department of the Workers’ Party of Korea published an article in a North Korean state-run newspaper, slamming US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s recent remarks.
In an interview with Fox News on May 31, Pompeo said that the Chinese Communist Party's recent actions implied that it was "determined to destroy Western ideas, Western democracy, and Western values" and "put the United States at risk."

The spokesman said that Pompeo’s remarks about Hong Kong, Taiwan, human rights and trade disputes were "nonsense", which was a defamation of the leadership of the CCP.
