The lists of left and ecologist, arrived in second and third position in the first round of the municipal of Saint-Etienne (Loire), formalized their merger Wednesday. Called Saint-Etienne Tomorrow, the new union list of the left and environmentalists is led by Pierrick Courbon (PS), who won 21.30% of the vote on March 15. Their common list, presented to the press on Wednesday but deposited from March 17 at the Loire prefecture, will meet on June 28 in a duel against that of the outgoing mayor, Gaël Perdriau (LR), who for his part had gathered 46, 88% of the votes cast, during a municipal election marked by a historically low turnout (32%). During a press conference, Pierrick Courbon and Olivier Longeon promised "a municipal project more human and respectful of the planet than the authoritarian and solitary power exerted by the outgoing mayor".
For his part, Gaël Perdriau congratulated himself in a press release for having "made no modification, no haggling, no negotiation, no last minute change" in his list. Critics swept aside by the ecologist Olivier Longeon, according to whom none of the lists, having obtained the minimum 5% required to be able to merge, would not have wanted to ally with the outgoing mayor.
Questioned by AFP, the former professional footballer Patrick Revelli (SE), whose list supported by LREM collected 4.72% of the votes, commented on the configuration of this second "half-time", declaring: "the the only certainty is that I will not vote for Gaël Perdriau ”. Sophie Robert, leader of the National Rally, whose low score (9.24%) does not allow her to stay in the second round, for her part told AFP that she was preparing to "make the 'dead end (...) for the first time in (his) life'. "I may not be going to vote in this election which was so unfair," she said.
