[Black Rainstorm] The Observatory issued the first black rain in three years

The Observatory issued yellow, red and black rainstorm warning signals successively within two hours, marking the first black rain warning in 2017. Thunderstorms all over Hong Kong, and the Observatory also issued a special report on flooding in the northern New Territories. At least two elderly persons were trapped and rescued in hospitals due to flooding in Tin Shui Wai and Tai Po.

The yellow rainstorm warning signal and the red rainstorm warning signal were issued at 0:40 a.m. and 1:30 a.m.; and at 2.55 a.m., the Observatory changed the black rainstorm warning signal to be the first since May 24, 2017. Black rain. Thunderstorms in Tsuen Wan District recorded more than 70 millimetres of rainfall in the past hour at 1:10 am; the Observatory also issued a special report on flooding in the northern New Territories at 1:45 am. At about 2:30 in the morning, the water depth of Xinsheng Village in Tianshui Wai was at least 2 feet. Some residents reported that water was pouring into the house. Two elderly people were trapped. Flooding also occurred in many places in Kowloon. At 4 a.m., there was flooding at Tai Hom Road off Hollywood Plaza, Diamond Hill. A minibus road from Tsuen Wan to Kwun Tong was suspected of deadly fire. Many passengers were stranded in the car, and some passengers fell in the rain.
