Al-Sisi announces a political initiative to get Libya out of its crisis

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed the necessity of resolving the crisis in Libya peacefully and preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity, announcing a comprehensive political initiative to get the country out of its crisis.

Al-Sisi said during a press conference with the leader of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Hifter, and Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, Aqeela Saleh, in Cairo today that "the initiative calls for a ceasefire starting from six o'clock in the morning of next Monday, removing foreign mercenaries from all Libyan lands, dismantling militias in it, and handing over Its weapons, preserving its sovereignty, territorial integrity and putting its interests above any considerations ”warning that all recent forms of escalation in Libya threaten dire consequences for the entire region, so there can be no stability without a peaceful settlement to the crisis.

Al-Sisi pointed out that the Libyan-Libyan initiative confirms respecting all international initiatives and decisions regarding the unity of Libya, pointing to the importance of the outputs of the Berlin Summit on a political solution in it.

Al-Sisi expressed his concern over the illegal foreign interference in Libya’s affairs and the insistence of some parties on a military solution to the crisis in it.

For his part, Hifter stressed the continuation of the war against terrorism until the liberation of the entire Libyan soil from Turkish invaders and colonists and their mercenaries, calling on Egypt to make more effective and urgent efforts to compel Turkey to completely stop the transfer of weapons and mercenaries to Libya, noting that the danger of the presence of terrorists is not limited to Libya only, but to the region .

Hifter said that the blatant Turkish interference in Libya exacerbates the crisis in it and prolongs it, indicating that the Turkish regime sponsors terrorism in front of the world and recruits and trains thousands of its mercenaries and sends them to Libyan lands.

Haftar stressed the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Libya and the need to eliminate terrorist groups there, calling for a Libyan dialogue and an immediate one.

In turn, Saleh stressed that the Libyan army continues to fight terrorism on all Libyan lands and the importance of unifying institutions, noting that a new constitution for the country is now being drafted and then presidential and parliamentary elections will be held.

Libya has been suffering since the NATO aggression against it in 2011 in a state of chaos and insecurity in light of the proliferation of weapons and terrorist organizations that are trying to impose their influence and control on various cities and regions, especially in the capital Tripoli, which is spread by militias of the government of reconciliation supported by the Turkish regime.
