In the district there were only a handful of patients who had Covid-19. If the numbers rise again, the district is prepared. There is now a Corona focus practice in Wolfratshausen.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen - On behalf of the Bavarian Ministry of Health, all districts are currently setting up corona focus practices. Implementing this plan from theory into practice - that was the task of the Disaster Management Management Group (FüGK). "But we only organized the location," says Florian Streidl, who is responsible for tactical and organizational management at FüGK. "The Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians took care of the equipment of the practice. The offer is organized by our health care providers. ”

For the organization, the physician Dr. Jörg Lohse responsible. He has already set up a corona drive-in in his home community and is now also taking care of the focus practice. Support is available from Dr. Katja Greutelaers and Dr. Josef Hafner and other doctors and medical assistants from the district. "But we also have the assurance of the statutory health insurance association that on-call doctors would step in if we need it," explains Lohse.

"When the second wave comes, everyone will be on board again"

The doctors find it gratifying that, after initial hesitation, a good dozen colleagues have agreed to work. The medical remuneration is just above the honorary office. "It's great that my colleagues do this," said Hafner. Greutelaers adds that the reports were rather reserved at the beginning, also because the number of infected people had dropped so far. "When the second wave comes, everyone will be on board again", Hafner is also convinced.

The practice was set up in the rooms of the old Wolfratshauser hospital at Gebhardtstrasse 2. There are currently office hours on Tuesdays and Fridays in the early evening. The offer is intended for people suffering from Covid-19 who cannot contact their family doctor - either because he does not have suitable premises to separate the sick from the other patients, or because he himself belongs to the risk group.

Contact point for people who are currently unable to see a family doctor

However, the practice should also be a point of contact for people whose family doctor is currently not available. Example: someone is on vacation at a campsite or in a hotel and suddenly gets corona symptoms. These patients can also be treated in the practice after being provided by the medical on-call service.

The important thing is that the patients cannot make appointments in the specialist practice themselves - this is done by the statutory health insurance association or the family doctor. There were a few small problems here initially, says Lohse. Appointments could only be made by phone during the office hours of his Münsinger GP practice. An online solution will soon ensure that appointments can be made at any time. It is good that the focus practice is set up in a quieter phase of the corona crisis, said Lohse. "So we have time to solve problems like this."

Focus practice is not a replacement drive-in smear station

It is important for supply physician Hafner that the offer is not a replacement drive-in smear station. "That would go beyond the scope. We want to take time for the patients, ”emphasizes Lohse. In addition, adds health care provider Greutelaers, there are still two daily drive-ins in the district, "every day you have the opportunity to make compromises". However, there is another reason why tests are only carried out in exceptional cases in specialist practice. Hafner explains that the aim is to avoid any contact between those who have been proven to be ill and possibly healthy people. "We don't want to expand the contact chains."
