Across the country, thousands of people take to the streets to demonstrate.

USA delivers controversial malaria drug to Brazil for Covid-19 treatment

Update of June 1, 4:49 pm : The United States has delivered two million doses of the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine to Brazil - although there is no evidence of its effectiveness with Covid-19 . - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 21, 2020

However, the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine in the treatment of Covid-19 is highly controversial. Most recently, a study published in The Lancet magazine found that administration to patients may increase mortality .

As a result, several countries had banned the treatment of Covid-19 patients with the malaria drug, and the World Health Organization ( WHO) suspended clinical trials, referring to the study.

However, numerous researchers from all over the world were concerned about the methodology and data collection of the study. Some researchers see evidence that hydroxychloroquine may be prophylactic in the early stages of Covid-10 , the New York Times reports . Several clinical trials by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) are currently investigating this.

In addition, Trump even asked a reporter at a press conference to remove his mask when he spoke to him. The latter refused and was truncated by Trump with the malicious words "Oh ok, they want to be politically correct".

Trump * now claimed on Twitter that he had done an extraordinary job and saved lives. “With all the political nonsense out there, if I hadn't done my job well and early , we would have lost one and a half to two million people, as opposed to the over 100,000 that seem to be the number. That is 15 to 20 times more than we will lose. I closed the entry from China very early! "

For all of the political hacks out there, if I hadn't done my job well, & early, we would have lost 1 1/2 to 2 Million People, as opposed to the 100,000 plus that looks like will be the number. That's 15 to 20 times more than we will lose. I shut down entry from China very early!

- Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 26, 2020

The "completely corrupt 'fake news' makes it sound like a mortal sin," Trump wrote on Twitter on Monday. They are "sick of hatred and mendacity".

It is piquant that the current allegations against Trump remind him of his own attacks against his predecessor Barack Obama in 2014. At the time, Trump called Obama playing golf during the 2014 Ebola outbreak "the wrong signal": a president should stop playing golf for a few years and "concentrate on the job," he added.

Corona in the USA: US citizens deliver disturbing bathing scenes

Update from May 25, 2020: In the United States, people are enjoying the long weekend. Most Americans are also off this Monday due to Memorial Day . For many citizens, this is obviously the perfect opportunity for extensive sunbathing on the water. Totally legitimate in itself - if it weren't for the corona crisis. Because of the pandemic, the imperative of distance applies worldwide

But pictures from America convey the opposite. Huge crowds of people, dense crowds in the water, it almost seems as if the corona virus does not exist. Police and beach attendants tried to appeal to people's sanity. Apparently, however, only with limited success.

Deborah Birx , coordinator of the White House Corona Task Force , said on a ABC show that she was "very concerned" about weekend gatherings. She underlined the importance of keeping your distance. Anyone who is unable to do this must wear a mask outdoors, says Birx.

Coronavirus in the USA: Exuberant party near the beach

According to the media, thousands of people gathered in Daytona Beach in Florida , but most of them dispersed when asked to do so. In addition, shots were fired on a street near the beach on Saturday evening, as welt.de reports. More than 200 people had danced and celebrated there. The police immediately opened an investigation.

The metropolis New York , however, gave a completely different picture. "The beaches of New York City remain closed for swimming, sports, barbecues or large gatherings," said the city administration on Saturday. "Only walking or sitting is allowed."

Corona in the USA: Trump creates excitement with leisure activities - the reaction of his confidante shows deeply

First report of May 25, 2020: Washington - In an international comparison, the USA is at the top in the number of infected people * with the coronavirus - and by far. On May 25, Johns Hopkins University reported 1,643,499 people infected in the United States (as of May 25, 8:39 am). For comparison: Brazil is in second place with 363,211 infected people.

Corona virus in the USA: Almost 100,000 dead - Trump still sees positive development

The number of people who died in connection with the corona virus also gives little hope in the USA: almost 100,000 people have currently died from an illness. After all, there are also 366,736 formerly infected people who have recovered from an illness.

Despite these figures, US President Donald Trump * (whose country is at risk of a combination of a pandemic and severe weather) is optimistic. He wrote on Twitter via Twitter: "Cases, numbers and deaths are falling across the country!" Trump is therefore pressing ahead with the reopening of the economy, although experts continue to advise caution.

Cases, numbers and deaths are going down all over the country!

Corona in the USA: Trump causes outrage with leisure activities

Trump himself took another step towards normality this weekend : after a long break, he was golfing for the first time . Trump visited one of his golf clubs near the capital Washington on both Saturday and Sunday . His opponents reacted with criticism.

Trump's likely challenger to the presidential election, Joe Biden , wrote on Twitter on Saturday night (local time) that the pandemic had killed nearly 100,000 people in the U.S., many millions lost their jobs - and the president was spending the day golfing.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a close confidant of Trump, defended the President's golf outing against it. "It is time to smartly revitalize the economy and return to a more normal life," Graham wrote on Twitter on Saturday. According to US media, Trump had not played golf since March.

Public life in the United States had largely stalled over the months of the Corona crisis, plunging the country's economy into a severe crisis. In the meantime, many corona-related restrictions have been relaxed again in the US states. However, the crisis is by no means over. The US is on the verge of surpassing the 100,000 corona death mark.
