As of April, to fill the gaps accumulated during the confinement period, the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer had indeed announced the establishment of "learning vacations" during which students could take air while enjoying educational follow-up. This Saturday, June 6, the Minister gave the details of these vacations to the daily Ouest-France. It will be 50,000 short stays by the sea, in the city or in the countryside, completely free for the most precarious families, during which a million young people will be able to enjoy sports, cultural and educational activities. The note amounts to 200 million euros.

In detail, these “ learning vacations ” will be divided into four “ operations ”. The schools open, first, "schools that open their doors to children during the holidays for school support activities but also cultural and sports activities " which will welcome 400,000 children this summer, against 70,000 usually.
"Bush schools"
The “open dump” schools , then, a novelty this year to accommodate 50,000 young people. “ Children sent to open schools, but to the countryside or to the coastal area to discover nature and local heritage. It is reserved for people under the age of 17, for small groups accommodated in boarding schools or in tents and it is completely new, ”explains Jean-Michel Blanquer. Finally, 250,000 places in colonies and 300,000 in day camps will be offered.

To supervise this million young "learners", the government is counting on the mobilization of 25,000 supervisory staff, who will be paid during the summer. " I know that we can count on the mobilization of our associative partners as well as that of the teachers, " added the Minister. And concerning the will of the mayors to welcome such devices, the Secretary of State for Youth Gabriel Attal added that " the demand from local elected officials is very strong to welcome children this summer ".

These learning holidays will obviously take place in compliance with the new health rules. “ The stays in colonies will be organized around sub-groups of ten, supervisors and animators will wear the mask, but not the children, except in situations where distance cannot be guaranteed. There will be very regular and systematic disinfection of the premises, a distance of one meter between each bed in the bedrooms, or between each sleeping bag in the tents, ”assured Gabriel Attal.

To apply, an online platform will be online on Friday June 12. It will allow you to see what vacations are offered in each region. Regarding the tariff, "there will be no remaining charges for children from the most modest backgrounds, who will have priority" assured the Minister.
