But what exactly are the rules for vacationers in the federal states on the North and Baltic Seas ? We explain the restrictions on travel within Germany in the individual federal states * in the coronavirus pandemic - and what is already possible again.

Vacation by the sea despite the corona virus: waves, sand and fresh sea air

In Germany , tourists are allowed to cross the inner German borders again, but there are still restrictions for some islands . And not all leisure facilities are open again.

In case of doubt, all holidaymakers should reinsure themselves by telephone or on the homepage of accommodation , restaurants and leisure providers, whether the consumer advice center in North Rhine-Westphalia advises.

Vacation 2020: These are the rules of the individual federal states on the North Sea and Baltic Sea

Lower Saxony : Everyone is allowed to enter the state on the North Sea again. However, this does not apply to the islands off the coast. For bookings of less than a week or for day tourists , each individual municipality decides whether the trip is permitted.

Campsites , hotels and youth hostels are open again, but have to meet certain requirements. For example, that they must not allow bookings up to the maximum load. Apartments or houses can only be rented every 7 days.

Holidays on Germany's coast: amusement parks and restaurants - a lot has opened again

Zoos, amusement parks , outdoor pools and restaurants have reopened. Here, too, requirements apply to operators and guests. For example, restaurant visitors must leave their contact details .

Mecklenburg - Western Pomerania : Holidaymakers from Germany can re-enter if they have booked an accommodation . Day tourists are therefore still excluded from entry .

Campsites, hotels and youth hostels may reopen under reduced capacity.

A lot has opened again: restaurants , shops, amusement parks as well as swimming and outdoor pools. The mouthguard obligation applies in restaurants and shops .

Summer vacation by the sea: seaside resorts are open and invite you to linger

Schleswig-Holstein : Everyone can enter, all restrictions have been lifted since May 18. Particularly busy seaside resorts and certain islands are temporarily closed to day tourists - for example on public holidays.

Hotels, campsites, holiday apartments , holiday homes - tourists can book again anywhere. Restaurants are also open.

Amusement parks, swimming pools, outdoor pools and fun pools are closed. However, natural and seaside resorts are excluded .

Holidays abroad: Italy as a pioneer, France and Co. want to follow

For trips abroad, the federal government continues to issue a travel warning. Even if some borders are already open again. The warning is valid until June 14th . After that, Germany wants to lift its travel warning for the countries of the EU and some other countries. Travel to France , Austria or Greece are then possible again.

The chances of a summer vacation in 2020 are good - at least in Europe. Germany will cancel the #travel warning for most European countries by June 15th. The Germans' favorite holiday country of all is not includedhttps: //t.co/7a5gNz7ATy

And even now, trips abroad are again possible to a limited extent: Estonia, Italy , Croatia , Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Portugal , Sweden, Slovenia, Spain (only Mallorca ) have opened the borders.
