The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress is drafting the "Hong Kong version of the National Security Law", which will be implemented in Hong Kong as soon as it is passed at the end of June. The Liaison Office of the CPC Central Committee held a symposium on the National Security Act this afternoon (6th). 21 representatives of the National People's Congress of the Hong Kong District and members of the CPPCC National Committee participated.

Luo Huining, director of the Liaison Office of the CPC Central Committee, pointed out at the symposium, "What is decided will be done resolutely," emphasizing that the national security legislation related to Hong Kong is aimed at a very small number of acts and activities that seriously endanger national security, and protects the majority of Hong Kong citizens. The legitimate rights and freedoms of the country, "whatever is announced, will be honored."

The Liaison Office said that as of noon today (6th), the Liaison Office has received 201 submissions from 36 deputies to the NPC and 165 members of the CPPCC National Committee.

Luo Huining said that this time the national security legislation for Hong Kong from the national level is based on the principles of resolutely safeguarding national security, adhering to and improving the "one country, two systems" system, adhering to the rule of law in Hong Kong, resolutely opposing foreign interference, and effectively protecting the legitimate rights and interests of Hong Kong residents.

Luo Huining also pointed out that the Third Session of the 13th National People's Congress passed the "Decision of the National People's Congress on Establishing and Improving the Legal System and Enforcement Mechanism of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to Maintain National Security", which is a milestone in Hong Kong's "one country, two systems" practice. He said that in the process of safeguarding national security legislation for Hong Kong at the national level, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress attaches great importance to listening to the opinions of all sectors of Hong Kong society. The deputies to the National People’s Congress and the CPPCC National Committee members in Hong Kong are representatives of Hong Kong society and shoulder the responsibility of safeguarding the rule of law and reflecting public opinion.

The Liaison Office said that the representatives and members who participated in the symposium expressed their opinions in good faith and agreed that without national security, there would be no high degree of autonomy, prosperity and stability in Hong Kong, and establish and improve the legal system and enforcement mechanism of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to safeguard national security. It is urgent and imperative. Luo Huining pointed out that the opinions of the representatives and members expressed the expectations of the majority of Hong Kong people, and conveyed support for Hong Kong-related national security legislation. In his speech, he put forward many constructive opinions on Hong Kong-related national security legislation. After the meeting, the Liaison Office will forward the opinions and suggestions put forward by the representatives and members, together with all the written comments received, to the relevant departments of the NPC Standing Committee.
