Uffing - Certainly Alen Karic imagined his start differently. However, he cannot let go of the anticipation for the new task. "I'm in good spirits," says the 51-year-old. As of this season, he heads the Uffing municipal bath, which opens on Monday, June 8th. Karic replaces Josef Panovic as tenant. He is now enjoying his retirement.
Tenant lives in Peißenberg
Like his predecessor, Karic comes from Croatia. He speaks German perfectly after moving to Germany with his parents 45 years ago. Today he lives in Peißenberg. He has been preparing for his new job for two years. After all, under Panovic's direction, he was responsible for the popular cod fish, which he introduced himself. In addition, Karic learned a lot about the processes and organization in the bathroom and was so well trained.
Josef Panovic's successor
During this time he spoke to Panovic again and again. They imagined "what it would be like if I followed in his footsteps". Finally it was clear for a long time that he would soon stop. The timing of the handover was perfect: Panovic wanted to stop at the end of last season and Karic should now start in spring.
Renovated facility
He wants to keep a lot. The concept has proven itself and is well received by the guests. The bathroom has been completely renovated, the sanitary facilities and kitchen are state-of-the-art, and the roof has also been renewed (we reported). “It all fits perfectly,” says Karic, who prefers to drive his Uffing brown-red Vespa 300 from Peißenberg. But he has come up with something new, not least because the connector fish is so well received by visitors: he will offer freshly caught char from the surrounding waters, from his own smoker, especially on weekends and when the weather is nice.
A trained businessman
In any case, he brings some gastronomic experience with him, because he continued his parents' business in Iffeldorf am Fohnsee for ten years. As a trained businessman, he is also familiar with accounting and finance. He also has support: With his two sons Simon (21) and Oliver (23), Karic is now running the bathroom on his own.
No entry
From Monday he can open it again after the Corona mandatory break. As reported, no admission is required. However, Karic pays attention to the distance rules. Therefore, it occupies only about a third of the 1500 places available. The dock is closed, the water trampoline remains on land for the time being. As usual, the usual hygiene regulations must be observed. He also has a request for visitors: Due to the limited space, they should come early in the sun. "I hope for patience and understanding for the exceptional situation, which I hope will normalize very soon."
